Implant retained dentures offer a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. We place between four and six implants in the jawbone and then use these to create a sturdy anchor for your full arch restoration. This flexible treatment plan will allow you to choose between fixed or removable dentures to suit your lifestyle.
Once you have implant retained dentures, you can eat your favourite foods again, as the force of your bite is absorbed by your jaw instead of your gums. You’ll also be able to smile and speak with confidence that your denture won’t slip or impact your speech. This treatment can help to fight loss of density in the jawbone which can occur over time.
The ideal candidate for this treatment is someone with dentures looking for a a more permanent alternative. You could also be a candidate if you still have some of your natural teeth but are thinking about dentures in the long term. You will also need to have good overall oral health and sufficient bone density to support the implants.
We start by making small pockets in the jaw bone and placing the dental implants. You will need between 4-6 implants per arch. These are left to heal and bond to the bone. Next, we place abutments on the tops of the implants which will support the final restoration. You can choose between fixed dentures or removable dentures that are held in place with “snap on” magnets.
